Research Interests

Currently, he holds the position of Chair Professor at the Graduate Institute of Linguistics and serves as the Director of the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences at National Chung Cheng University. His research interests lie in investigating the interconnective relationships between syntax and semantics in both spoken and sign languages, aiming to explore the commonalities and differences in these two modes of human communication.

Starting in 2010, he began collaborating with cognitive psychologists, cognitive neuroscientists, and clinical neurologists. Using Chinese language as a basis, his research team delve into the connections between language decline and memory, attention, and neural degeneration, with the aim of developing effective language training to mitigate cognitive aging and establishing linguistic markers for early diagnosis of dementia. Since 2016, he has served as the Co-Convener of the Aging Research Center at National Chung Cheng University. From 2018 to 2023, he served as a Deputy Director of the Ministry of Education's Deep Plowing Project "Center for Cross-disciplinary Innovative Studies on Aging" at National Chung Cheng University. Additionally, he has served as the chairman of advisory board of the Taiwan Cognitive Neuroscience Society since 2012.
